The clearing wasn't really there before, at least so it seemed. A grassy circular field laid itself out near the front of the massive forest, in the midst of blue and purple swirls of light, the trees formulating amongst starlight and the moon's massive frame. When Wolfgang walked up to the place, his glassy UI at his fingertips, he was surprised. Out there, little beds had been set up, blanketed by both sheets and the stars. Campfires, seemingly forever kindled, dappled the clearing, soft and welcoming. Yet, no one was there.

Maybe he was early. The invite said for that time...

He looked down at the event announcement, the message sent out by one name: Ratman. Maybe he was really stupid. Who would accept an invitation to a gathering from the psycho that put them there?

Maybe someone hoping to get home answers?

Above the boy's head, a small robotic creature whirred, floating around him eying the trees with a leaping sort of activity. It seemed fascinated, contained to one place yet bouncing around that idleness like the grappled electrons of an ion. Wolfgang looked at his ribbit-- Ion, he had started to call it.

The boy sat down on one of the low beds, looking up at the stars, contemplating his choice. He had already walked a fair way out there. He could at least rest for a few moments...

It probably wasn't the best idea to follow an invite from everyone's captor here, but then again, maybe it wasn't going to be some horrible trap. The crunching of boot-covered feet stepping on grass and fallen leaves sounded as Ansley approached the camp site, her spell book in her inventory rather than held against her side for a change. Well, if this was a trick, Ratman wasn't planning on letting them much be discovered already. Ansley was almost expecting to find an empty clearing with some monster in it, opting to keep her spell book away only to make fleeing easier. After all, she didn't expect it to be something that could be beaten.

Instead however Ansley saw Wolfgang, pausing and walking over to approach the boy, a smile on her face as per usual. "Hey dude. Guess someone else decided to risk showing up, huh?"

The ever familiar sight of the trees in the Maeko Forest welcomed him as he strolled his way to a clearing that he hadn't ever come across before. Shepard strolled to a stop at the designated area, eyes landing on the other two just in time to hear Ansley's comment. Scoffing, he poked at a rock with his boot, hands tucked into his pockets. "I'd consider it a first for him." The blond gave Wolfgang a glance before seating himself on a bed. "How do you like it outside the city?" He asked, kicking his feet up.

Not long after the appearance of the level two player, the most recent addition to the game stepped into the clearing. His dark outfit both blended in and stood out against the bioluminescence. The dark shadows melted into his outfit as if it was part of the scenery, and the light illuminated him like a silhouette--indicating his presence to the others. Taking another step into the light of the camp fire, he became fully visible. The red of his gloves stood out compared to the dark composure of his outfit.

The man himself looked young, just over the legal age. No emotion passed over his face, stoic but more curious than anything. His name was Beecher, a to-be archivist at the National Archives in Washington D.C. Not that the life was very glamorous. But rather he was a history buff, and enjoyed working there as an intern. That was--until he awoke in this...game. Beecher wasn't a fantastic gamer, but he wasn't a terrible one either. The young adult was able to adjust to the change quickly, and accepted the invite to the camp without much forethought.

Yet he stood there, watching the other players with observant eyes--quiet.

Olive walked into the clearing not long after Shepeard. The young girl caught a side-glance of Beecher and looked at him quietly. He was oddly distant, so she didn't give him as much as a greeting, moving instead to the crowd of people she had briefly met before. Ansley, Wolfgang, Shepeard. Olive sat down besides them on the grass, grunting with a smalll smile. However distant she struggled to stay to others in the game, she still enjoyed people she could relate to, in some way, and having those three as aquintaces was not bad.

"I'm glad I'm not the only one coming." she grinned to them, looking up to watch the odd Ribbit spinning around in the air above their heads. In the crook of her neck rested a small bundle of white fur, the Peallaidh that had briefly belonged to Callum before she took it in as a small pet. The creature was not really pleased with the new surroundings and stood close to her. Now that they had come to a rest, the winged-bunny descended off her shoulder and began looking around with its beady eyes. She shared a mischevous glance with Shepeard. Those things were roaming up in second level, but down here, not really. "I get you are a man of the indoors, Wolfie?" she smirked after the question of the other second-leveler.

An invite. From the psychopath that trapped them inside this hell.

Everything told her that this was most definitely not something she should be attending, that it was, in no way whatsoever, a good idea. So why were her feet not listening to her and dragging her to the campsite out in the forest? Lilian kept chiding herself, muttering over and over again about how she could be cozy in her room, wrapped up in a blanket, and sleeping the night away with dreams as sweet as could be. The mattresses in the game were very comfortable and plush, and it was so easy to fall asleep on. Letting out an exasperated sigh, she made her way through the forest, following the trail of the other players before reaching the site.

Not bad, she mused to herself, taking a glance. A good handful of people had already made it there, talking among themselves. Familiar faces from the initial wake-up - namely Neapolitan Girl -, but azure eyes rested on the dark-haired male standing off to the side that was keeping away from everyone else. He didn't look unfriendly, rather attractive, really. Lilian heaved a deep breath, side-stepping towards him, and then she cleared her throat. "I don't think we've met. Are you new here?" Talking to more than one person was a pain. Joining the crowd could come later.

The event had been announced, a notification appearing in his inbox as he made his way back from the usual visit into these nick of the woods. Callum blinked momentarily when it had happened and while his eyes rested on the sender's name, he showed no caution as he meandered towards the rendezvous point. Almost as though he were a ghost, he had appeared at the forest, completely undetected, completely unnoticed. A number of players had already arrived. He had no intentions with participating with their idle chatter.

Information. That was all he was hoping to grasp from this pseudo-gathering. Having advanced further than the rest, they held little of value for him - anything they knew, he had already found out himself. Should they approach him, he'd talk, otherwise, no. Yellow-green eyes looked past the individuals, the lime centerpiece of his bracelet radiating a slight glow. A winged rabbit, not native to the first level, was present. The light emitted attracted its attention and before long, it had glided its way towards him, abandoning its post by Olive.

So she had stolen it from its natural habitat.

Headbutting into his palm, the Peallaidh eagerly awaited the gesture that it desired. Rolling his eyes, Callum complied, allowing it to set itself on his shoulder.

Barry hadn't done much since challenging the gatekeeper, even though he could've at least attempted to start the Second Level. He needed time to recuperate, he told himself. He was still recovering from actually dying. Then his UI started blinking and notifying him of an incoming message. The sender? Ratman. The name sent shivers down the man's back. He opened the message and read the invitation.

At first he wasn't sure if he should go, but decided that it might be a good idea. He needed some friends, as lame as that sounded. As he headed up the route to Maeko forest, he heard some voices and sighed with relief. He hated being the first one to events. Barry looked around the clearing, looking for familiar faces. Most of the faces he saw were at the cathedral meeting. There were a few unknown faces, but hopefully they'd all get acquainted with each other at least. A particularly familiar face struck him as he saw Shepard talking to Wolfgang and a girl he didn't quite recognize. Even though he wanted to catch up with the boy, he decided to hang back towards the edge of the clearing, to kind of oversee everything in case something went wrong. He was still suspicious of the invitation.

Two days, she had counted. She had been in this place for two days. How did she feel about it? She couldn’t say. A bit of a frown seemed ever-present on her small face, her pale skin and white hair contrasting her otherwise asian appearance. She basically screamed RBF all wrapped together in a tiny package. Otherwise though, she looked innocent enough. A rather intricate violet dress covered her thin frame, complete with a darker shaded cloak and long, faux-leather boots. She was definitely a mage, everything about her clothes screamed it - save for the black cat-ear headband.

All the magic she had inside of her though couldn’t prepare her for the surprise that came from the little Ding! that chimed from her UI. It sent her a good couple of feet in the air from where she had been at the fountain, although a quick sweep of the message and little time to decide on what action she would take next landed her right in Maeko Forest. She had really only taken the time to explore the area around her of Roslare, not daring yet to go out into the wilderness. However, the full moon above her, she would be alright. Her fingers grasped the staff she held tightly, as if for support through the somewhat-dark-but-not-really area.

It was easy enough to find, with the distant light of flames and building noise guiding her to the area. A quick glance of everyone made it very obvious she would know none of them. The small frown still on her face, she took a place away from everyone.

Mackenzie on the other hand, was not shocked at all when her UI chimed with a message. However, the recipient was interesting enough. Looks like the asshole himself caught onto our nickname for him. Surely, it had to be a joke? Mackenzie couldn’t deny it. Her teleport function was rather useful though, because within a matter of moments she was right where she needed to be - surrounded by a gentle flame, sleeping bags, and the nighttime sky. Oh, and several players.

Sawyer slid the bow off of his shoulders - the weapon he was provided with when he learned his class. After some practice in the woods, he found himself to be fairly decent. A shot was a shot, no matter where it hit the target. Light blue pixels faded in his hand as he requested to put the bow back into his inventory, although the quiver was left strapped to his waist. The young player was on his way to the invitational camping ground, where he could be acquainted with more players. It wasn't long ago when he reached the amount of bits needed to attempt the first gate, it was the matter of actually finding a team in which he could pass though with. His thoughts lingered a little while longer until he could make out the small hint of orange flames.

Sawyer's pace picked up as his leather boots traveled over the terrain; from what he could see there were a group of players already surrounding the camp ground murmuring to each other. The vibrant blond hair could be picked out to be Shepard, the player he previously completed a mission with. He slowed down a few feet before joining the group and casually made his entrance. Sawyer shuffled into the small huddle, his eyes passing over the few outsiders. The boy kept quiet, listening to the conversation that already started. His eyes peered over the boy the other two were referring to. Wait a minute. He recognized him, it was the boy that called the first meeting, not to long ago. Sawyer cleared his throat lightly in order to inform the others of his presence, but not wanting to interrupt the teasing.

He had bought the ribbit for protection. It wasn't like he was going to be buying any gate tickets. The boy called the robot over, grabbing it out of the air and holding it in his arms. The appearance of Ansley had made him flinch. The subsequent appearance of Shepard had made him flinch again. He wanted to tell Shepard he has wrong, that this was not his first time. But he didn't want to think about it. He just glared back.

Wolfgang was just here for the gathering. He was just here to get some information. Nothing would attack them with so many people there.

He stared down at the fire, not answering anyone, even Olive.

The mage girl bit her bottom lip and looked down at her hands appologetically as she sensed Wolgang's silence. It was understandable. For a moment their circle remained gloomy, so she looked around over her shoulder to see who had joined them. A girl who seemed to be a mage, with an adorable pair of cat ears on the top of her head, Lilian, talking to the guy she had ignored earlier - Olive wanted to call her over but thought better of it - another guy who seemed drastically older than all the other teens there, someone who had slid into their small group, not really involving themselves yet, and Callum, too. She observed the Peallaidh wandering off to greet him and she gave his a small smile in greeting. "Hey Callum, long time no see?" she said and returned her attention to the rest of the group. Without really meaning anything in particular, mostly carried by instinct, she put ushered closer to Wolfgang and put a hand on his shoulder. The boy was stroking his Ribbit absently, and Olive wandered what had gotten into him, and whether he was avoiding to talk to the others on purpuose.

Ansley watched as a numerous other players started to show up. Sure didn't seem like anyone wanted to be very cautious about the meeting in spite of who invited them all. Of course, she couldn't blame them when she herself was one of the first people to even arrive. Ansley didn't recognize any of the newcomers except for the green-haired player she'd seen in that pub, and the girl who was around when they had a run in with that Wicken. For now, she decided she'd head over to Wolfgang and Olive, although she'd probably find that green-haired one and meet a few other people later on. She walked over to where Wolfgang was sitting, with Olive nearby, although she stayed silent for the moment. She couldn't help but notice how Wolfgang was acting, in addition to the ribbit he was holding.

Shepard seemed satisfied with Wolfgang's lack of an answer and instead of pressing the question, he faced his sister with a bright smile. "Over here, Kenzie." A gloved hand beckoned his twin over to the cot next to him. For the moment he had pushed the incident from earlier to the back of his mind. Shepard despised fighting with his sister, and often enough would let his frustrations rot in the corner of his mind. For better or for worse.

The blond spared a glance to the side, eyes laying on Sawyer whom he had shared one of his first missions with. Grin still in place, he gave the other player a wave as he stood off to the side, flanked by a few other people who didn't want to join the fun quite yet.
-----

One such person was Beecher. His dark eyes reflected the fire as they jumped person to person. He picked up on the animosity between the two blonds, Wolfgang and Shepard. A majority of the players were of teen age. He felt the slightest bit old, despite the fact that he was nineteen. Beecher knew at some point that dealing with the younger players would get annoying. He wasn't looking forward to that. The analysis of the relationships in the group seated around the fire was merely half way when a light voice spoke up at his side.

His head turned to the side, hair swaying at the movement. Beecher considered her words with a sheepish smile. "Yes, does it show?" He turned to face the other player as he spoke, hands sliding into his coat pockets, his red gloves vanishing from view. The same calculating look flashed in his eyes as he looked her over. She seemed polite and had yet to partake in the conversation around the fire. From what he could gather, she appeared to be a ranger, much like his own class. Maybe he could ask for some pointers.

Olive had greeted him in passing, nothing more than a smile and a few words, but she hadn't said much of interest to him. He didn't get the point of her talking to him if all she was going to do was immediately snap the entirety of her attention back to the others without giving him an edge into the conversation. Consequently, he ignored her, coming to the conclusion that there would be no point and a waste of energy to return her words in a faux sense of familiarity.

His fingers played around with his bracelet, glassy eyes focused on nothing in particular; that didn't seem to bother him. Staring into the darkness was fine too. Everyone else around was a hindrance. Callum turned his head a bit to the side, a fleeting glance towards the blonde twins. Nothing more than a fleeting glance.

Finally, someone reasonable. After the roundabout discussions she had with Addison - that mage constantly dragging her around town and pleading for her help like she was a lifeline and ray of hope in these dark times -, Lilian was glad that a conversation that she had chosen to initiate didn't seem to have any way of dropping into the wrong direction. The newbie looked pretty normal, most definitely older than her, and he wasn't as bad as some of the other crazy players around. She really had to wonder whether any of them possessed a stable mindset at times.

Tilting her head up a little, she met his eyes, gracing him with an upward turn of her lips and gave a curtsy. "Not really," she admitted. He blended in very well with the rest of the crowd more naturally than anything, choosing to hide in the back and yet appeared comfortable around everyone else. Lilian couldn't quite tell whether or not he was looking at her a bit too closely or not, but she didn't take too much mind to it. "I don't remember seeing your face anywhere before today. That's all." A lucky guess, if anything.

Sawyer stood in silence with the rest of the group as they slowly started to disperse. His eyes frantically looked at each person trying to catch the gaze of someone so he didn't seem like such a loner. Dark eyes caught the small wave of Shepard in which he gave a small grin back taking it as an invitation he desperately needed. He didn't need many friends, just a few he could rely on. Sawyer slipped his hands into his pockets as he made his way over to the two blondes, "Hey! Catch any betaflies on the way here?" He chuckled, pleased with his conversation starter. His dark eyes glanced over the rest of the campers wondering what their night was going to consist of.

The crackle of the fire seemed to grow warmer as more and more players entered the area. In this sound, there seemed to be a laughter, a chuckling of sorts, the occasional murmuring that whispered on the kindling. It played with Wolfgang's mind when he heard it. He had been looking into the fire, and realized that the fire was speaking back. Was he going crazy? Surely no...

He looked around, but everyone else had already retired to their own conversations. He glanced over to Ansley, who also seemed without company.

"Do you hear that?" he asked, his voice coarse. The ribbit Ion continued to stare blankly into the flames that reflected off its eyes.

The voice came louder.

"Hmm--oh, yes, my children, can you hear me?"
