The sun shone high overhead, casting a minute shadow under the player. His blond bangs casted a similar shadow over his eyes, the only light being reflected was his blue eyes. Shepard strolled to a stop in front of the door to the pub. He had only recently gotten back from a quest, and going on another so soon didn't feel like a great idea. All this considering that there was a limited amount of quests per level. He may want to spread that out if he could. Not to mention that he was feeling beat. The last few days had been exhausting both physically and mentally. Although-- he stopped himself. It wasn't physical, after all it wasn't his body, even if it felt like that. Who would have ever guessed that he would end up trapped in a video game.

'Sounds like every nerd's dream.' Shepard thought bitterly to himself, pushing the door to the pub open with one hand. The other on his hip where his sword was sheathed. The lighting in the room was much darker than the outside light, and the blond had to pause for a long moment to adjust to the setting. Normally he came in for quests, but at this moment of time, Shepard wanted nothing more than to relax. The waiter took him to a table near the front--taking a small order of food from the blond before vanishing into the back.

While waiting, the fighter watched and listened to others casually. Fingers drumming against the table casually, they only stopped playing their song when a tap was felt on his shoulder. Curiously, Shepard looked up and over his shoulder. "Hello?"

She could tell from afar that the stranger was a fighter, and having that in common felt like a great reason all its own to try to interact with him- at least, that was what Etsuko had told herself as she moved to tap his shoulder from the entrance of the pub. She wasn't sure if it was proper etiquette or not, and frankly she didn't care. Etsuko couldn't handle being alone, much less in this situation...And she had always been better with guys, so the fighter seemed like the perfect choice.

He greeted her curiously, and that to her was a great start. "Mind if I join you? Not many actual people here at the moment, and it's boring to drink alone." She gave a softly cocky grin as one hand sat on her hip, the one that'd tapped the stranger moving next to him near an empty seat's space at the bar, fingers dancing without a sense of rhythm, merely tapping for fun, against the wood.

"Less boring to drink with someone else...And a lot more comfortable, considering the circumstances."

Shepard wasn't exactly expecting a younger girl to be the one tapping on his shoulder. Even then, he didn't object to her having a seat with him. Rather, he gestured toward the open seats at his table, welcoming her in. The blond reflected her smile back at her, readjusting himself in the seat so he wasn't slouching over the back. The waiter practically flew by, leaving a mug of water on the table and a passing mutter that he would be back with his food.

"Definately." Shepard agreed, lifting the pewter mug from the wooden table. The blond had yet to drink, his eyes glued on the girl and his head slightly cocked to the side."You weren't here day one, were you?" He asked, not recognizing her from the beginning. From what he remembered, there wasn't a lot of people there that day compared to the growing numbers. They kept adding people. It chilled him.

"I'm Shepard, by the way." He introduced himself, taking a quick swig of the water and placing it back on the table. He had to refrain from making a face. Of course they didn't have ice here. Damn it.

Taking a seat, she was surprised at how quickly he'd recognized her as more of a newcomer. How exactly could he have figured out? Was there a login date she couldn't find near her head? The wheels kept turning, but she couldn't find an answer to her own questions. So, she stuck to his. "I just got here recently, yes. Is it that obvious?"

"Shepard, huh? I'm Etsuko. It's nice to meet you." She gave off a small smile, surprised when she was given water almost immediately, but happily taking a swig. "It's too bad they couldn't recreate ice, isn't it? If we're going to be stuck with it we should at least be able to enjoy it."

A small frown tried to tug her lips downwards as she groaned, far more interested in speaking her mind than holding back for the account of others. "Considering how much detail they put into all this, you'd think they'd include the small things like that. I swear they put more effort into dragging us all here than whatever 'here' is meant to be itself."

"It is kind of obvious." The boy stated, blue eyes looking over the dents in the cup absently. "You weren't there when the rest of us woke up at the fountain, nor the gathering." He looked back up from the realistically designed up to meet her eyes. "Which is probably why you don't recognize me." Shepard chuckled, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, not going to much more detail than that.

He had taken the lead, opposing the other player who had set up the meeting. That had caused quite a sturr in the group. They had expected the boy to take the lead--but Shepard had instead.   Though, he didn't feel the least bit bad about it. Especially when Wolfgang argued that they should all stay within Roslare. There was no way the fighter was going to stand idle.

At the greeting she sent his way, Shepard nodded his head paired with a big smile. "Nice to meet you! You know, I was just thinking the same thing. It feels kind of weird without ice." He lifted a gloved hand and gestured to the mugs on the table and out to around them. "Although," He began, returning his hand to the table top, an amused look on his face. "I highly doubt the developers designed this level to have modern appliances in the back of the kitchen in a medieval style pub."

"I know it's meant to be a medieval pub, but I mean...I've played plenty of games, and in a good chunk of them, they still tend to put ice in the drink sprites. And I doubt the lacked ice in the middle ages..." She laughed a bit, smiling in turn. She was more than a little relieved that the fellow fighter was more of a friendly type, seeing as how she had just had to wish for the best when she first attempted to get his attention.

Still, even after his explanation of how he'd recognized her as a newcomer, something stirred inside her as confusing about it. "I've met plenty of other people who are newer, so...I didn't even think there'd be something like a meeting for everyone. Think they'll be a regular thing? I'm kind of jealous, since I haven't met that many people here yet that fully get what's going on. I know the basics of course, but...I still have so many questions, you know?"

Shepard didn't much press the issue on the lack of ice. Perhaps it was the lack of anything that would produce ice, such as lakes in mountains. It seemed that this level was too warm to produce anything of that sort. Maybe if they unlocked one of the levels above there may be ice... Etsuko furthering the conversation brought him out of his ice related thoughts.

As she spoke, Shepard took a slow sip out of his mug, maintaining eye contact though the corner of his eyes. Once she finished, the blond took a moment to place down his mug and consider his choice of words. "We plan on doing one every month. Or at least, that is what someone suggested. Personally I agree with it, these meetings will be very beneficial towards working together." He blinked for a long moment before realizing that he hadn't actually explained it all very well. Sheepishly he grinned and continued. "Basically, Wolfgang--one of the other first players--sent a message to everyone suggesting to meet up in the cathedral to talk about how we approach the game." Shepard moved his hands as he spoke, and his face was animated as he spoke. So much so, that it would be pretty easy to see what he thought about each subject.

Particularly Wolfgang, for whom his face contorted into something of a scowl. "He suggested that we all stay in Roslare. Suggesting that people were already on their way to save us from the lab all our bodies are stored in." Shepard's brows knitted together. "Then I stepped up and reasoned that our kidnapping cases were not all the same. There is no way they would be able to tell that there was a connection between all of our cases. That we would have to get past the fifth level to get out of here."

The teen leaned back into his seat and crossed his arms. "Some people agreed with Wolfgang, some people agreed with me. It is like we have a two party system now." With a sigh, he looked back at Etsuko. Again, he sheepishly smiled. "So, uh.
If I didn't explain very well, or you have questions I will try my best to answer them.
After all, it was what he had promised to do at the meeting--share knowledge.

The name rung a bell. "Wolfgang...Oh! That guy. I met him when I woke up, well, briefly. He told me a little bit about where we were and whatnot, but...I didn't hear anything about the meeting, really. Is it acceptable for me to go to the next month's meeting? Something tells me it'd take longer than a month to get through this kind of game, considering the eclectic methods our captor has up his sleeves. Like you said...Everyone was taken from different places, in different ways."

Her left hand balled into a fist, she pounded it against her leg. That she was kidnapped was still something she wasn't fully past accepting- if she ever could be. "Seriously, why did that bastard do this? I know it's a harsh word, but he deserves harsher. Taking people against their will like this...And our bodies..." She shivered, wanting to cry- but she couldn't seem to get the tears out, even if the program would likely let her.

"I...Don't know which side to join, in that system of two parties. I don't want to be stuck here, but...I also don't know what will happen if we keep fighting either. We don't know what will happen when we die in the game. We're consciously here...But on the other hand...I want to get out of here quickly. Hayato...He needs me...I can't just be here..."

Shaking her head, she pushed her hands against the table before her and pulled herself up. "I don't know which to do...But I know sitting around moping isn't my style. Besides, I know I'm not the only one with family waiting for me. We all have to figure this out somehow. I can't afford to die here...But sitting still might be worse than death." Grinning, she added, "I kind of want to see it...What this stupidly well-made fake world has in store up ahead. So my real question is...How do we get there? And when we do get out of here...Do I get to beat the shit out of the asshole that did all this?"

Shepard nodded in response to her being able to join the next meeting. It was meant for all players to come together to talk and share their findings. Certainly they would have no issues with someone coming in. If they did, they'd have to go through Shepard. Not to inflate his own ego--but he was a tough person to fight. There was no movement at Etsuko's out burst of emotion. A stoic look ruled over his face as she talked away, only for it to melt away into a knowing look. Shepard's lips were pressed in a thin line and his eyes were lowered staring at the lines on the wooden table. There was no answer that Shepard could give her about the man who did all of this.

With a shaky sigh, Shepard leaned forward on the table and knitted his fingers together, elbows on the wooden surface. "We were told that once we pass though the fifth floor gate, he will let us go home. Although," He paused looking back up at her with solemn blue eyes. "somtimes I wonder if he means what he says. After all,
he is the man who put us here."
The hands unweaved and pressed against his forehead. "I don't think just deserts is served here, we may not be able to fight back against him. Maybe when we get out. Until then..." He trailed off, not focussing on the thinly veiled pun about just deserts and desserts. In hindsight he'd laugh, not so much at the moment.
