Kenko grew a habit of licking his lips.

Maeko first noticed this when his little experiment started. He watched the world on his table, mumbling to himself about the various things happening, his eyes dried out from staring at the world all day. He would swipe around constantly, going to person-to-person, laughing and giggling about how foolish or poorly they were handling his world. His creation. Maeko would spend the days meeting the people of Iceland, of the town they set up the facility near. She would come back with groceries, and he would still be there, licking his lips raw.

Her husband was gone. She hoped it wasn’t true.

The woman spat at the screen, at the employee viewing monitors. The staff watched her in stunned silence as she continuously hocked at each television, at each player’s face, backing up and making room for her as she moved to each and everyone one, until her mouth was dry and she stormed off. She hated those children. They stole her husband. The whole world stole her husband.

Kenko spent all day at that screen, even when he slept. But he did sleep. The man collapsed on top of that LCD table, his snores echoing through the facility chambers, and Maeko knew. This was her chance. She had to get to the pods, quickly.

She could have killed them all there, stabbing their sleeping bodies one-by-one. Oh, but Kenko would know, and would probably kill her, too. There was no one to hear you scream in bumfuck Iceland.

And where was the fun in that, anyway?

It was night in Project Aubade when a glimmer of green light flashed before the Fountain Square of Roslare. A beam shot into the sky, a laser that exploded into a firecracker of words.

A staff member has entered the game.

Maeko stood before the fountain, claymore in hand, decked in armor. She felt the power surge through her, the sword light as a feather.

She would devastate them. She would make them pay.

The woman, almost eight feet tall, crashed her sword into the ground. The city rumbled, a flash of green energy skating along the street, further, further, for what seemed to be a mile. It vaporized NPCs in its path on impact. The AI finally seemed to switch to disaster mode, and began to run, some screaming, none challenging the giant.

Where were the players? Where were the players?

ooc;; PM me if you want a character to lose a life in this thread. This is open to all members!

Visiting Roslare was an idea she had had in her mind for a while now, given as the city had been the spawn point for all the players, which made it the most important of them all. The atmosphere was calm, funny how this prison-simulation could have this charming appeal to itself, if it tried hard enough. The mage girl wandered the streets, eyes closed, musing about God-knew-what. NPCs tended to get out of the way, so it was not a problem if she didn't look where she was going.

Suddenly a rush of bodies bumped into her, toppling her over in the middle of the street. Before she knew it, she was in the middle of a deserted road, knocked out flat on the cobblestone, dazed and confused as hell. She got up with a jump, feeling energy jolt through her. Her pace was no longer steady, her eyes were no longer closed in laziness. Olive summoned the spellbook from her inventory as she ran along the street towards the fountain square... The source of it all. The mage was confused of what had caused this panic amongst the NPCs, but pressed on. If there was anyone who could deal with that, it was the players.

The fountain square was a mess, and in the middle of it all, a figure wielding a large sword stood there, awaiting them, perhaps. She couldn't recognize them, she didn't know who they were. Were they a player? Olive ran along the side of the square, eyeing the enemy with both fright and confidence. Her galloping steps felt faster than ever as she opened her spellbook, muttering the chant of a spell of wind. It was something knew, but the passive skill should be helpful. The mage continued to circle Maeko from a distance, memorizing the spel and praying that other players would show up to help.

After the win at the first gate, Shepard had checked out the second level with some fanfare but returned to his residence that same day. Now the next, Shepard had spent that day combing over the first level once again to make sure he hadn't missed anything before he devoted the rest of his time to the second level. The blond had gone to open the door to his residence when the world shook.

Blue eyes caught sight of something...large looming in the distance. Lips pursed, he took a step back outside. The screams of NPCs made the berserker flinch--yet, he ran toward the danger. He slid to a stop near the fountain, eyes wide at the large human that stood before them. He glanced to the side, noting someone casting a spell--mage. Nodding, Shepard took a page out of their book and began to charge up a skill.

It was a player...right? What kind of player spawns like that? Come to mention it, didn't he see a 'A staff member has entered the game.' message? Could this be a staff member? One of the assholes who kept them in here? His blond brows knit together, and he caught up with the mage and lowered his voice. "A staff member. Did you see the message as they entered?" Shepard asked, ducking his head behind shrubbery. Blue eyes stared at the staff member though the bushes as he kept pace with the other player.

Hopefully they weren't the only ones here.

Olive's eyes darted towards the figure that caught up with her, a boy which she could recall seeing him talk at the last gathering. He recognized the flaming blonde hair and then the pieces fit together. He was the brother of Mackenzie, another girl that had spoken. She identified the tag above his head and so realized that he was a second leveler as well, which was a good thing. As he began to speak, they both slid under a shrub planted neatly towards the edge of the square. The woman hadn't seemed to notice them for now, luckily.

"I guess you could say I was more alerted by the torrent of screaming NPCs, but yeah." she answered, checking her UI to see the notification on her screen. What kind of mad staff member was that? If she knew right, the people were trying to keep them in there and experiment on them, not kill them before they even get started properly. Olive closed her UI and proceeded into muttering the chant for the wind spell some more. She needed to know that thing well before she could act.
