There was no use. The spear pierced the mage, directly, and there was a pause, the sound of glass shattering. The mage gasped and quivered, the spear completely through his body, and his vines shook too. His HP had hit zero. The vines withered away, toppling in pieces, and Richter fell from the height. The gatekeeper's body had dissipated into a flurry of pixels before he even hit the ground, and only the black ashes of the vines remained.
The gate rumbled. The glass-like transparent door shattered, all at once, the fragments falling and disappearing as they hit the ground. The gate was open. Gabriel could pass.
