The forest was quiet except for the faint rustling of wild life. Betaflies fluttered above the trees and a fawni could be seen picking the berries from the forest floor. It was gorgeous. Sawyer didn't have much to miss back on earth, considering what was left behind. When he was place down in Roslare with all the other teens he was only shocked in the beginning when they were all dropped off unconscious. Now he had a goal, to be one of the best in the game.

Sawyer was assigned his first quest, the capturing of betaflies. The floral man assigned him the job along with another player - a fighter if he could recal correctly. The raven-haired player let out a deep sigh as he ran his hand throughout his spiky hair. Player two was late. Sawyer gritted his teeth as the interface showed another minute had passed. Sawyer grunted aloud in frustration, "This kid better preform better than what he is right now."

Player two wasn't actually that far behind, and would argue that he was Player one. Blond hair practically shone in the blue and green colors of the forest. While it made him noticeable, the blond was practically leaping off one hill to another, a shining smile on his face. With his past meeting with Hano, Shepard had grown to love the forest and not easily scared by the Boswin who were one of the more startling animals. Quite frankly-- he was relaxed in this area and wanted to take the quest that would allow him to go back with an actual reason.

Maybe he'd see Hano again. That'd be cool.

A blue butterfly passed just in front of him as he leaped onto the next hill. The bug hit his chest, and found itself cupped in the player's hands. Landing on the muddy ground with a thunk. Mud splattered in all directions, coating his boots. "This is what we are trying to find, right?" The blond asked, holding the bug up by pinning the two wings between is pointer finger and thumb.

Sawyer shuffled backwards as he witnessed a yellow flash appear in front of him. Mud scattered around the sides of the boy and a few chunks landed on the rangers boots. The player shrugged it off as he looked up at the blond boy, "Yes, perfect." Sawyer then rose his hand to open the interface, removing a small cloth bag from his inventory. "I see you have a good reason for being late." His pale hands rose the bag to meet the blue insect, waiting for the other player to put it inside. The blondie wasn't that late, it's the fact that he was late that slightly angered Sawyer. "We better get a move on if we want to catch all of these betaflies. My names Sawyer, you are?" He beckoned to his side for the other player to follow as they began their journey into the ~unknown~. shook

The butterfly vanished into the sack, leaving Shepard to narrow his eyes slightly at the boy. Being punctual was not everything in life. Missing a few minutes to catch a bug that was necessary for their quest should be looked on without much scrutiny. So at Sawyer's distaste, Shepard couldn't help but return it. What was this dude's issue? "Yeah, we do. I'm Shepard. Nice to meet you." Okay, the list bit was strained. Shepard didn't appreciate someone giving him a hard time about being there on time. If he had a good reason for it-- it shouldn't be a big issue.

It wasn't like he was usually late. In fact, back home-- he and his sister would arrive with plenty of time to spare. Especially with dinner being made, the twins would get home early to help make dinner. The thought made Shepard pause. He and Mackenzie were going to get home early to help their dad cook dinner. They never came home. Teeth clenched, the blond turned his head to the side and chose a direction deeper into the forest. "This way, I know a clearing that may have some."

Sawyer pursed his lips as Shepherd took lead. The Ranger quickly loaded up his map interface looking at the clearing that Shepherd had offered. The blue screen blinked as an information bubble appeared with a description "This clearing over here has more potential." His finger glided over to a grassy spot on the map a little to the right of what Shepherd originally offered. Another blue bubble popped up with the words 'teleport now?' "It says here: 'Betaflies roam in swarms providing a magnificent display'." His dark eyes peered up to meet the gaze of the yellow boy. The questioning look faded from his face as he started off to a new paths "Follow me."

Shepard tilted his head, opening the map on his interface. Sure enough, the map indicated the area Sawyer talked about. With a shake of his head, Shepard closed the interface and turned to face the other player. "You do realize that your clearing may be cleaned out already by other players. I'm certain there is a long spawn loading time for them." The blond reminded him somewhat harshly, taking a step back--towards his original destination. He offered a knowing look to the dark haired boy. "I've been in this forest plenty of times. I know where they may be." Shepard spoke as if that proved his point, arms crossed and blue eyes with a pointed stare.

Sawyer stopped in his tracks and peered straight into the boy. His gaze showed contemplation as he thought over the blonds offer. With a deep sigh the player trudged over to his partner, one hand on his bow the other in his pocket. Sawyers nose crinkled with disgust as he gave up without much arguing. He knew if he stuck with his plan the boy wouldn't stop bickering about it. "Well, lead the way." He snapped with a little wave of his hand. "How have you had so much experience in the forest anyways?" His curiosity grew with Shepherd; he could try to learn as much as he could from him and get the most advantage of the first level.

Seeing the boy wrinkle his nose at him, Shepard couldn't hold back the rolling of his eyes right back at Sawyer. It was a bad habit, and would often get scolded by his parents for doing it. "This way~" He sing songed, leading the way into the forest. "I've said it before, I've been here plenty before." He replied simply, making an exaggerated step over a root of a tree that had broken over the surface of the ground. Shepard hadn't said much to anyone about Hano, and to be honest, he didn't plan on it.

Soon enough, they reached a clearing that was off the map, unmarked. Shepard had originally found it walking back from meeting Hano during the first day. It was rather pretty. Large groups fluttered above their heads like a cloud. Their wings highlighted by the light of the sky filtering through the tree leaves. Slowly, the fighter raised his hand. Soon enough, a single betafly landed on the top, coming to a rest. Again, he lowered his hand until it was in reach of the other. With a simple pinch of the betafly's wings, Shepard held it out at Sawyer. "Number two~"

A frown rested on Sawyer's face as he received a simple answer; he already knew the boy spends a lot of time in the forest, but why did he? And how did he learn everything so fast? The raven-haired boy mused as he followed behind his teammate. His eyes fluttered over the clearing that randomly appeared, betaflies spun around the treetops making the leaves dance with the wind. For being forced into a virtual simulator against his will, he actually liked it. It was gorgeous, a forest just outside the city and minimal commotion of wicked people. It seemed almost peaceful.

Sawyer smirked as he pulled out the brown bag once again, loosening the stings to place the other betafly inside. "Well aren't you a show-off." He joked to the other player, it was going to be easier catching them with Shepherd then he thought. Sawyer let out a little gasp as he realized Shepherd was right; this place was basically untouched. "So tell me forest-boy, how do you recommend catching one of these things?" His hand pointed upwards towards the glowing blue, pretending to point at the betaflies as a reference to his question, but was discreetly trying to get his own creature to land on his finger.

Shepard sent Sawyer an amused smile. 'Forest-boy'-- he could get used to that, although it put the idea of him, just a cloth covering his nether regions, sitting on a branch up high in the treetops screeching at the top of his lungs like Tarzan. Either that or something like Peter Pan--but the Tarzan idea made him chuckle.

Holding a hand up in the air, Shepard turned to the other player with patient eyes. "Well, just waiting for a Betafly to land on your hand is good enough. It might take a while, but it is better than rushing off and scattering them all." The blond assured him, placing another that he had caught in the bag. "Three."

And that was how their day went, counting off as each of them caught their Betaflies. It became hard later on when their patience ran thin, bringing their hand down too fast and scaring the bug off. But--soon though--they collected the amount they needed. With a triumphant woot, Shepard tied the bag shut and held it up to Sawyer. "Ready to head back?'

Sawyer pursed his lips as he tried to follow the other players directions. He slowly raised his hand and waited for one of the blue bugs to land on him. After a few moments light legs danced on his finger, his eyes went wide as he looked at Shepard stoked to have caught one. His other hand snatched up the betafly by the wing and he swiftly placed in inside the bag. A smile spread along the players face as they went to hunt down more.

It was highnoon when they reached their goal for the quest. Sawyer took the bag back from Shepard, placing it into his inventory. By the end of their hunt Shepard had a big lead on Sawyer on the amount of betaflies. A small pout forced its way onto the face of the player as he turned to exit the forest. "Yeah, we better get going before they close up shop." His eyes traced along the edge of the forest, a little sad they had to leave so soon.
